How to create a Shopify direct checkout link

You only need the store domain and the numeric variant ID of the product.

Add your domain and the variant ID. In Shopify admin, open the product and look at the URL after /variants/ — or paste a product link with ?variant=.

  2. 2

    Set quantity and discount

Choose how many to add and optionally apply a discount code that is applied when the customer lands.

  3. 3

    Share it where you sell

Use the link on Instagram stories, link-in-bio pages, email buttons and ads so customers go straight to checkout.

Shopify direct checkout link FAQ

What is a Shopify cart permalink?

It's a URL in the form /cart/VARIANT_ID:QUANTITY that adds products to the cart. Shopify sends the customer to checkout by default, and ?discount=CODE applies a discount code to the order.

Where do I find the variant ID?

In your Shopify admin open Products → your product → click the variant. The URL ends in /variants/ followed by the numeric ID. A product page URL with ?variant=ID also contains it.

Why not just link to the product page?

Every extra click loses buyers. A cart permalink removes the product page and add-to-cart steps, which helps on impulse buys and limited-time offers.

Does the discount code need to already exist?

Yes, create it first in Shopify under Discounts. The link only passes the code; the customer sees it applied at checkout if it is valid for the items.
