Step-by-Step

How to build an SMS link

Number, message, copy — that is the whole job.

  1. 1

    Enter the number

Add the number that should receive texts. Keep the + and country code if customers may be in other countries.

  2. 2

    Write the message body

Pre-fill what customers will send, such as a keyword for an automated reply or an enquiry about a listing.

  3. 3

    Pick a link variant

The universal link works on both iPhone and Android. If you target one platform, use its specific variant. Copy the HTML snippet for websites.

Great for real-estate signs, repair vans, restaurant tables and any mobile landing page.

Private by design

Everything runs in your browser. What you type is never uploaded or stored.

Instant & free

No signup, no watermark and no expiring links — the QR encodes your link directly.

Print-ready

Download the QR as PNG/SVG or print a styled card for tables, stickers and packaging.

SMS link generator FAQ

Why are there different iPhone and Android links?

iOS expects the body after an ampersand (sms:+1555&body=Hi) while Android expects a question mark (sms:+1555?body=Hi). The universal form sms:+1555?&body=Hi is accepted by both in current versions.

Does the link work on a desktop computer?

Only if the computer has a messaging app registered for sms: links, such as Messages on a Mac. On most desktops nothing will happen, so show a phone-only button or the QR code.

Are special characters and emojis safe?

Yes. The message is percent-encoded, so spaces, punctuation, line breaks and emojis survive. Very long messages may be split into multiple SMS by the carrier.

Will the sender be charged?

Opening the link just fills the text app. Standard carrier rates apply only when the person presses send.
